Why Savvyology & What Does It Mean?

"My life is an ongoing study and expression of practical understanding and enlightenment."
~ B.Y. Penman

B.Y. Penman writes poetry and creates haiga (visual haiku) under the name Savvyology.
The name holds special
meaning for her and evolved out of her personal outlook on life and the experiences gained raising a son with
multiple complex special needs.

Savvyology:

savvy (n)             Practical understanding; cognitive condition of someone who understands.

-ology (suffix)     Discourse; expression; theory; study.

B.Y. Penman's son was born with a life threatening condition and given a 5% chance of survival at birth.
He defied
the odds, being the fighter that he is, and has grown into a happy and active teenager. As a
result of his struggles at birth, he has complex special needs that make life challenging for him and his family.
He has taught his mother many valuable lessons since coming into the world and is her motivation and
inspiration when she writes and creates her artwork.
